St. John Bosco wins 2019 State Title & earns a National Title

CERRITOS - The Braves earned their 3rd State Title and have earned the title of National Champions after defeating the De La Salle Spartans 49-28 in the California Open Division State Title game.

The Braves finish the season with a 13-1 record while the Spartans finish 12-2. St. John Bosco's only loss came on October 25th vs Mater Dei while the Spartans other loss was to nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas from Florida.

Not only are the Braves 2019 California State Champions but will also be crowned the best team in the country.

Since when he returned back to his alma mater in 2010, Head Coach Jason Negro (St. John Bosco Alumnus, Class of 1991) has built a program and created a culture that is beautifully embedded into the school community.

Even though his program has won THREE section and state titles (2013, 2016, 2019) and TWO national titles (2013, 2019) in the 10 years he has been at the helm, Coach Negro may say his program's biggest achievement is getting his student-athletes to the next level--whether that "next level" means competing as a football player, being an academic student--it, ultimately means preparing the young men in his charge for life as sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, and faithful citizens.

Some of the mantras Coach Negro preaches is Trust The Process, Be Prepared, Believe in Yourself & Others, and Achieve Your Potential only to name a few--and, ultimately, good things will follow such as winning championships and other significant milestones in life like graduating, being a good son, brother, husband, father, and faithful citizen.

Congratulations to #BoscoFootball for dreaming, setting goals, executing to achieve those goals, and ultimately making dreams become a reality. The program has contributed to making the school community a better place.
